Annual Outreach Gifts Presented To 6 Local Charities

Posted on Sun, Jun 16, 2013

Faith Christian Church's Outreach Team has presented gifts to six local charities from our annual Faith Christian Church Foundation disbursement.

This year the team gifted two charities that work with disadvantage persons in the Binghampton area of Memphis.

Caritas Village

"Caritas" is Latin and translated means "Love for all people." Caritas Village uses art, music, hospitality, theatre, classes, and connections to creatively join people together in common goals from many different ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds. The Village interfaces directly with the surrounding community and creates jobs, provides experiential training, facilitates affordable and nutritious meals, and provides an outlet for creativity. For more information about Caritas Village see their website at http://caritasvillage.org/index.html

Rachel's Kids

The goal of Rachel’s Kids Inc. is to provide opportunities and improved quality of life for those children who live in the inner city neighborhoods of Memphis. The sole focus of our effort is directed towards the children of the Binghampton section near Midtown Memphis.

A secondary goal is to develop professional, effective, and innovative grass-roots philanthropic leadership around the city. We have gone beyond saying love your neighbor; we have found a way to show them. Rachel's Kids has embraced the vision of former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, who expresses our vision of Rachel’s Kids, "that every kid needs a relationship with a caring adult, safe places to meet, a healthy start, a place to develop marketable skills, and an opportunity to serve others".

Martha's Manor

Martha's Manor is a day program for women with disabilities age 22 and above. The program includes education, handicrafts, exercise and outings. A group from Faith volunteers with Martha's Manor regularly, and we have supported them for several years now.
