Serving Children in Binghampton - Here's How YOU Can Help!
The Women of Faith have adopted "Rachel's Kids" as a long-term support project.
The current service project is to provide non-perishable food items for use with young people who attend tutoring. Items needed include:
Bring items to church each Sunday and place them in the big red container by the chapel door.
If you would like to support the drive but cannot get out to shop you can add a donation to your offering and designated it for "Rachel's Kids".
A little more about Rachel's Kids:
The goal of Rachel’s Kids Inc. is to ease human suffering where we can, and to provide opportunities for sustainable development, dignity, and improved quality of life for those children who suffer in the inner city neighborhoods of Memphis. The sole focus of our effort is directed towards the children of the Binghampton section near Midtown Memphis. A secondary goal is to develop professional, effective, and innovative grass-roots philanthropic leadership around the city.
We have gone beyond saying love your neighbor; we have found a way to show them.
Rachel's Kids has embraced the vision of former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, who expresses our vision of Rachel’s Kids, "that every kid needs a relationship with caring adult, safe places to meet, a healthy start, a place to develop marketable skills, and an opportunity to serve others". Rachel's Kids realizes that many of these children’s needs are deeper than simply human needs; they have spiritual needs which are largely unmet so we also give these children an opportunity to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
